70th year anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)

Collection launched: Dec 2, 2019

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a document that has garnered worldwide support for changing the way we view human rights, not only in law and policy but also as fundamental rights. However, it has also been seen as controversial, and has been contested.

In this Special Collection, we present research which examines not only how cross-cultural approaches have been necessary in building human rights in different contexts, but will also prove important for sustaining the future of human rights.

The collection is subdivided in to four themes: (1) Examining the drafting history of UDHR; (2) Influence of UDHR in the years after its publication; (3) Significance of UDHR; (4) The future of the UDHR. Through these themes, the research covers key aspects of cross-cultural approaches in the origins of the UDHR and beyond.
